Beer(s) of the Week! (End of December 2017)

*If you can get your hands on one of these delicious beers it would be a good way to end the year, just FYI.

Omnipollo Lustro (Imperial IPA, ABV: 8.0%, IBU: 80)

Logsdon Farmhouse Ales Raven and Rubus (Sour, ABV: 8.0%, IBU: 10)

Commercial Description: Raspberry sour ale aged in second use bourbon barrels.

Crux Fermentation Project Bubble Wrap (Hazy IPA, ABV:6.2%, IBU: 30)

Commercial Description: Not playing it safe and leaving all gimmicks behind, we set out to make the next great Hazy IPA with a healthy amount of spelt, wheat, and acidulated malt before dumping a ton of Galaxy and Mosaic hops into the hop back. The result is a juicy hop flavor that is as fun to drink as it is to pop those bubbles.

Firestone Walker Brewing Company SLOambic (American Wild Ale, ABV: 6.0%)

Commercial Description: We are fortunate to have great relationships with our local growers who provide us with superb fruit for our beers.  Like last year, we had the opportunity to purchase fresh marionberries and boysenberries, both close cousins to the blackberry, so we pounced.  For this vintage, fresh berries were added to Sour Opal, a beer matured up to 24 months in oak barrels, and then fermented using our proprietary blend of microflora for an additional three months.   Bursting with ripe berries and brambles, as well as hints of jam, the fruit gives way to a rustic funk and soft oak flavors, finishing with a mouth-watering acidity.  We humbly present 2016 SLOambic.  A Santé!

Holy Mountain Brewing The Goat Saison (Brett Saison, ABV: 4.7%)

Commercial Description: THE GOAT IS A RUSTIC FARMHOUSE ALE BREWED WITH BARLEY, RYE, OATS, AND WHEAT. FERMENTED WITH A MIXED CULTURE IN AN OAK FOUDRE, WHERE IT CONTINUED TO AGE FOR 3 MONTHS. SOFT, DRY, AND FUNKY WITH A VERY MILD ACIDITY AND STRONG MINERALITY, THE GOAT IS A BALANCED, CLASSIC SAISON WITH NOTES OF RYE, VANILLA, FRUIT, AND OAK. REFERMENTED IN THE BOTTLE WITH BRETTANOMYCES

Holy Mountain Brewing BBA King’s Head 2017 (Imperial Brown Ale, ABV: 11.0%)

Commercial Description: KING’S HEAD IS OUR DOUBLE OAT BROWN ALE, BREWED WITH A LARGE PORTION OF MALTED AND UNMALTED OATS, PREMIUM TWO ROW BARLEY, AND SPECIALTY ENGLISH CHOCOLATE AND CRYSTAL MALTS. FERMENTED WITH AN EXPRESSIVE ENGLISH ALE STRAIN, THIS BATCH OF KING’S HEAD WAS THEN TRANSFERRED INTO FRESH KENTUCKY BOURBON BARRELS AND LEFT TO AGE FOR 1 YEAR.

Revision Brewing Company Planet Lovetron (New England IPA, ABV: 6.5%, IBU: 25)

Commercial Description: Hitch a free ride onboard the Mothership Connection to Planet Lovetron. Ease your mind and soul with bright citrus and stonefruit flavors of Amarillo, Mosaic and Citra hops, floating on a pillowy bed of malted goodness.
